The Government has awarded £150m to support bus services “in every part of the Midlands and North of England” in what, it says, will be the first tranche of £1bn worth of funding.
This forms part of the Network North plan announced by prime minister Rishi Sunak at the Conservative Party conference last month. He said that the £36bn saved from scrapping the northern leg of HS2 would go into a local schemes to improve daily transport connections.
