The Future Transport Visions Group (FTVG) offers a proven and significant springboard for early career professionals. Apply now, as an individual or in a group, for funding that can solve the transport challenges of the future

15 December 2023

The Future Transport Visions Group (FTVG) is an annual research and development competition, funded by the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, that encourages early career professionals across the transport industry to explore the challenges and opportunities posed by ongoing changes in the world around them.

What it's like to work with the FTVG by a 2023 winner!

More information about FTVG online here: including how to apply, deadlines and more detail on the operation of the competition

The FTVG is targeted at those in the first ten years of their career across all sectors in the transport industry. Taking part:

  • enables rapid and relevant personal development;

  • facilitates opportunities to explore new ideas;

  • builds relationships – each cohort shares experience with other young professionals.

Rees Jeffreys Road Fund would also like to see more employers and organsiations supporting and encouraging their early career professionals to participate in the competition.

How FTVG works

Early career professionals are encouraged to apply for a place at the start of each competition – either as a group or as individuals  – the next competition is live now and the FVTG is accpeting Expessions of Interest until 26 April 2024.

The final awards will be made in summer 2025.

Successful applicants are organised into project groups (usually 3 to 4 people) and allocated a project to work on based on themes and ideas they have in common, generally aligned to common challenges in the industry.

Project teams have access to funding for project costs and access to a mentor who can help guide the development of their project.

The projects run for approximately 18 months – participants spend as much or as little time on the project as agreed with their employer.

Participants are advised the FTVG project should not detract from day-to-day responsibilities and is largely expected to be undertaken in own time or use in-work professional development time if employer agrees.

At the end of the competition the projects are judged and a winning project team announced.
