Local trains may use ‘over-large’ HS2 Curzon Street station

Ministers have decided not to reduce the scale of the new HS2 Curzon Street station in Birmingham because the surplus capacity there could be used by local trains, according to HS2 Ltd Executive Chair Sir Jon Thompson.

He also revealed that the DfT has decided not to share detailed information about the HS2 project with a private-sector group convened by Andy Street and Andy Burnham, the mayors of the West Midlands and Greater Manchester respectively.
