£2 bus cap should extend to help transition back to commercial models, says CPT

The £2 bus fare cap should be extended to give a breathing space the new government time to consider alternatives, says the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT).

Following a report last month from consultants KPMG, CPT wanted a plan to go back to commercial fares. But with the cap due to end on 31 December, possibly close to the general election, the trade body now says it is to lobby for an extension of four to six months to allow a smoother transition to other fare models...
