Road junction shows how not to build a strategic road network

Were you being cheeky in your last issue? I refer to your decision to illustrate Stephen Plowden's letter criticising the Highways Agency's benefit:cost ratio calculations for road improvements ('Costs rise but roads are still value for money' LTT 26 Aug) with a picture of, perhaps, Britain's key road junction. This is where the main east-west road (Holyhead to Felixstowe) crosses the main north-south road (Glasgow to Dover). It's otherwise known as the M6-A14/M1 junction.
