Ridership up only slightly during TfL Friday fares trial

A three-month trial in the capital where all Tube and rail fares were off-peak all day appears to done little to boost passenger numbers, suggest figures from Transport for London (RTfL). London Mayor Sadiq Khan hoped the £24m scheme, which stated in March, would help driver ridership and boost the economy.

According to Tube ridership data from TfL, passenger numbers on Fridays during the trial were only 3% higher compared with the same set of Fridays in 2023.
