Mullan becomes new North West Traffic Commissioner

David Mullan has been appointed as a Traffic Commissioner, deployed by the Senior Traffic Commissioner to the North Western traffic area.]

He starts in the role next month, taking over from Gerallt Evans who is retiring. 

Since January 2023 Mullan has been responsible for Driver Licensing and Motor Insurance and policy and within the Department of Infrastructure in Northern Ireland. He is also in charge of delivery of the Road Safety Strategy for Northern Ireland. From 2019 to 2023 he served as the Head of the Transport Regulation Unit, which acts as the Northern Ireland regulator for goods vehicle operators. Despite leaving the role in January 2023 he has continued to sit as a Presiding Officer on public inquiries and impounding hearings within Northern Ireland.
