Officials explore emergency vehicle lane on Anglesey Britannia Bridge rail deck

The Welsh Government is exploring the possibility of emergency vehicles using a spare rail deck on the Britannia Bridge in the event of tailbacks on the road deck.

The bridge, originally built for two railway tracks, is the main link between Anglesey and the mainland. After a fire in the 1970s, it was rebuilt with a road deck and two parallel rail decks below, only one of which has a railway track.
