Scottish government attacked for cutting spending on active and sustainable travel

The Scottish Government is cutting spending on active and sustainable travel as it seeks to plug a large gap between funding and planned spending this financial year.

Shona Robinson, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Local Government, told the Scottish Parliament that a gap of £1bn between forecast funding and planned spending was not sustainable.

She has set out a range of measures including not continuing the removal of peak rail fares or the pilot of an extension of concessionary fares...
