Trial to use low carbon asphalt to resurface roads

A trial of a new low carbon asphalt for road resurfacing is to start later this next month in Yorkshire on the A64 from Bramham to Headley Bar.

National Highways is working in partnership with engineering specialists at the University of Nottingham, who have carried out tests to understand how low-carbon asphalt can affect the life of the road.

University of Nottingham expects the trial to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 70%, from 321 tonnes to 96 tonnes.
