Chief executive of Campaign for Better Transport, Paul Tuohy, has announced he is to retire next year. Recruitment for a new chief executive will begin in the next few weeks, the charity said, adding that Tuohy will continue in post until his successor is appointed.
Tuohy joined CBT as chief executive in October 2020 prior to which he spent five years as chief executive at the charity Cycling UK.
He said: “I came into post during the pandemic and at a very difficult time for both the passenger transport network and charities in general.
“After four years, I am pleased to say that both have recovered and, thanks to our hard work, transport is a priority for the new Government with its commitment to deliver "the biggest overhaul to transport in a generation.”
Shamit Gaiger OBE, Chair of the board of trustees at Campaign for Better Transport, said: “We are extremely grateful to Paul for all his hard work and dedication over the past four years. This is a time of significant hope for the future of sustainable transport. With five decades of experience leading the sustainable transport debate, Campaign for Better Transport is uniquely placed with the resources, skills and expertise to help the Government, local leaders and the transport industry deliver the sustainable transport network the country needs.”
