Nearly 1,500 road collisions in 2023 were linked to parked or stationary vehicles affecting drivers' vision, shows new data released by the Government. Analysis by online parking platform YourParkingSpace found that these parking-related incidents contributed to more collisions than weather-related hazards like rain, sleet, snow, or fog, which caused 1,307 accidents.
The only external factor responsible for more incidents was dazzling sunlight, contributing to 1,770 collisions, it added.
