Highland Council buys bus firm as Pembrokeshire reports further savings

The Highland Council in Scotland is purchasing a bus company, more than two years after Pembrokeshire Council in Wales did the same to minimise cost increases.

Highland began to operate public and schools services in January 2023 and says it is on course to have saved £2.5m in the first two years, compared with the expected costs of awarding contracts to commercial operators (LTT907).
