Reliable connectivity is crucial in the parking industry, where smooth transactions, real-time data management, and seamless customer experiences are essential.

BaySentry Solutions, a parking management company, partnered with data communications expert Go2Sim to upgrade its network infrastructure across multiple locations.

BaySentry Solutions, which is based in Leeds, faced a growing challenge – an outdated network infrastructure that struggled to keep pace with its expanding operations.

To address this challenge, BaySentry partnered with Go2Sim to update its network

The project’s goal was to enhance connectivity, improve operational efficiency, and provide a seamless experience for customers.

Go2Sim was tasked with upgrading existing routers to more robust and reliable models. It needed to ensure consistent and secure connectivity across all parking facilities. There was a requirement to overcome connectivity challenges in remote and low-signal areas.

It was also asked to enhance data management and remote monitoring capabilities.

Go2Sim provided its IoT Data Sims and Go2-4G routers, known for their industrial-grade construction and reliable performance in challenging environments.

These routers offer:

  • High-speed 4G connectivity for robust internet access.
  • VPN (virtual private network) and security functions to ensure secure data transmission.
  • Support for external antennas, ideal for areas with low signal strength.
  • Easy set-up and remote management capabilities.

Peter Dowling, chief technology officer at BaySentry Solutions, said: “Transitioning to Go2Sim has been a seamless and stress free experience. We now have improved coverage in areas where previous suppliers have been able to achieve, the team at Go2Sim ensure that all routers are sent out pre-configured with an easy to use, intuitive dashboard providing an excellent overview of connectivity statistics enabling us to easily identify if there are any sites with potential issues and keep track of our usage. A huge bonus for Go2Sim is having the ability to pool data across all connections vastly reducing the risk of having any unexpected overage costs.

“When we have had technical queries the team at go2Sim have always been extremely quick to respond and to provide a resolution meaning any impact to our business is kept to an absolute minimum. It is a pleasure working with the knowledgeable and accommodating team at Go2Sim and we look forward to continuing to grow our business with them as our communications provider.”

Implementation

The project was carried out in three phases:

  1. Assessment and planning: An assessment of existing infrastructure and connectivity needs was conducted. A detailed plan was then developed to ensure minimal disruption during the upgrade.
  2. Installation: The Go2-4G routers were installed across multiple BaySentry Solutions locations. The installation process was streamlined to ensure quick deployment.
  3. Testing and optimisation: Post-installation, extensive testing was conducted to ensure optimal performance. Adjustments were made to fine-tune the network settings.

Challenges

Many of the BaySentry sites were remote locations, areas with poor signal strength. The use of external antennas and high-gain configurations helped overcome this challenge.

Security was a key concern for the operator and Go2Sim, with ensuring secure data transmission being a critical issue. The VPN and advanced security features of the Go2-4G routers provided robust protection against potential threats.

BaySentry Solutions wanted a scalable solution. As the ccompany's operation expands, the network needed to scale accordingly. The modular design of the Go2-4G routers allows for scalability and integration with new sites.

Results

  • Improved connectivity: The upgraded routers provided consistent and reliable internet access across all locations, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Enhanced customer experience: With better connectivity, customers experienced smoother transactions and reduced wait times.
  • Operational efficiency: Remote monitoring and management capabilities allowed for proactive maintenance and quick resolution of issues.
  • Scalability: The network infrastructure is now scalable, supporting future expansions without significant additional investments.
