Domestic road freight in the UK has been broadly stable since the earliest comparable data in the third quarter of 2021, with a very slight downwards trend, according to the latest Government data.
Statistics show that in the 12-month period ending September 2024, there was a 4% drop in the weight of goods lifted by GB-registered HGVs operating in the UK. This represented 1.54 billion tonnes, down from 1.60 billion tonnes for the previous 12-month period.
