Another 300 e-bikes will be added to Greater Manchester’s scheme in May, which will mean that more than half of the city regions bike hire fleet will be electric.
The new e-bikes are lighter, with the battery integrated into the main frame, and a larger basket at the front.
The Starling Bank Bikes scheme has helped to get more people cycling and also re-engage lapsed cyclists, with 44% of riders returning to cycling after a break, said Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM).
