Cardiff buses carry one passenger per vehicle km

Buses in the Cardiff City Region, the most densely populated Welsh region, carry only one passenger per vehicle kilometre operated, according to data in the draft RTP.

In 2023/24, the region’s buses accounted for 41,288,190 passenger journeys, 71% below the number in 2019/20. The total km operated was 38,333,044. Buses carried 1.08 passengers per km operated.
