Most tram crashes in GM due to drivers 'not being vigilant'

The majority of crashes involving trams and vehicle in Greater Manchester are due to motorists not paying attention, claims the boss of operator Metrolink.

According to data obtained via a Freedom of Information request, there was a 30% rise in the number of collisions involving Metrolink trams and other vehicles in 2024, the data reveals. There were 51 collisions reported last year, up from 39 incidents in 2023.
