Uncertainty surrounds the plans for airport expansion in the South East and Scotland this week after the Office of Fair Trading announced that it proposes to refer BAA airports to the Competition Commission.
The OFT's consultation report on the planned referral states: "We consider that the lack of competition between BAA's airports in both the South East of England [Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted] and lowland Scotland [Glasgow and Edinburgh] leads to higher charges than would be the case...
