Transport Scotland has drawn up a four-stage categorisation into which all transport projects will be grouped, to indicate how high a priority they are to ministers and who should be responsible for their development.
The categories are revealed in the Scottish Executive's responses to the draft regional transport strategies prepared by the regional transport partnerships (RTPs). The categories are as follows:
