The DfT this week unveiled a package of new measures to improve road safety, including a rural road safety demonstration project, an extension of mandatory variable speed limits on motorways, and work to facilitate the use of Intelligent Speed Adaptation by vehicle fleet owners.

The proposals feature in the second review of the Government's road safety strategy, jointly prepared by the DfT, Scottish Executive and Welsh Assembly Government. Overall, the review records good progress being made...
