Cyclists press Ladyman to revise Highway Code cycle lane guidance

Transport minister Stephen Ladyman is considering whether to change a section of the draft Highway Code that cyclists say leaves them open to prosecution for not using cycle lanes and tracks where they are provided.

The existing Highway Code says cyclists should use cycle routes where practicable but the draft version of the new code published last February included a statement saying that cyclists should use cycle facilities "where provided". The revised draft published in March said...
