Carillion Regional Civil Engineering has been awarded the contract to build the Bedford Western bypass. A 3.6km single carriageway road will link the A421 to the A428 and include a low level viaduct over the River Great Ouse. The Government awarded £5m of Sustainable Communities Plan funding to enable the southern section of the bypass to be built that will provide access to housing development sites at Biddenham Loop and land west of Kempston.
