The Docklands Light Railway extension to North Woolwich via the new London City Airport station opened on 6 December. The 4.4km line, from Canning Town, also includes new stations at West Silvertown, Pontoon Dock and King George V, where the line terminates in North Woolwich. The 2.5km extension from King George V station, under the River Thames to Woolwich Arsenal station, is currently under construction and is due to open in 2009.
