DIADEM is maintained for the Department by Mott MacDonald and provides a straightforward way to implement a variable demand model consistent with WebTAG guidance. It uses an incremental hierarchical logit model for the following demand responses: trip frequency, time period choice, mode choice, destination choice/distribution. Travel times and other costs are provided by a third party traffic assignment model (currently CONTRAM or SATURN). DIADEM is also designed to achieve convergence between supply and demand, as specified in WebTAG Unit 3.10.4.

Windows XP or Vista. 256Mb RAM (although large installations will benefit from extra RAM). 10Mb hard disk space (for installation). Single site licences: local authorities and consultants within the European Union - £1,000 plus VAT; educational use within the EU - £300 plus VAT; commercial use outside the EU - £2,000; educational use outside the EU - £500. The licence price includes free software support, maintenance and minor upgrades.
