Sir David Rowlands has been appointed chairman of London Gatwick Airport. It follows the sale of the airport by BAA to Global Infrastructure Partners in October. Rowlands is non-executive chairman of High Speed 2, the company set up by the Government to consider the case for a new high-speed rail line between London and the West Midlands. He is a former permanent secretary at the DfT.
