Oxford’s bus operators agree to co-ordinate rather than compete

Oxford’s two main bus operators and Oxfordshire County Council have reached a ground-breaking agreement to revamp the city’s bus network using as yet untested powers in the Local Transport Act.

From this autumn, Stagecoach and Go Ahead subsidiary the Oxford Bus Company will run a joint timetable on the four busiest corridors on which they currently compete. A smartcard ticketing system will be introduced, allowing people to travel on both company’s buses.
