Embassies owe £1.5m in unpaid fines

Embassies in Central London owe Westminster City Council more than £1.5m in unpaid parking fines. More than 60% of embassy-owned cars failed to pay for penalty charge notices (PCNs) for parking illegally in Westminster.

In the council’s top 20 list, the Sudanese embassy was the top offender, with three vehicles amassing fines of more than £80,000 from 811 PCNs. Next was Saudia Arabia owing £15,000 from a single vehicle, with 182 PCNs. Two Afghanistan diplomats owe almost...
