Centro has used powers in the Local Transport Act to set up a quality partnership in north Walsall which will see bus operators co-operate rather than compete. It has been billed as the first multi-operator agreement in a metropolitan area.

The partnership has seen Centro, Walsall council and bus operators Arriva Midlands, Midland, Midland Rider and National Express West Midlands redesign the bus network so that services now run at even intervals on jointly operated routes. A phased...
