Many within the bus industry have been critical about how heavy the current generation of vehicles are. Although technology in the car industry has made great strides in reducing emissions and improving fuel efficiency, it has been slow to have any sort of impact in the bus world.

From an environmental point of view, the current generation of buses are gas guzzlers - a dramatic reversal from the buses of yesteryear which by comparison were remarkably fuel efficient.
