Council chiefs probe variation in local transport scheme costs

Councils have asked consultants to pinpoint the reasons why the cost of delivering similar capital projects and maintenance schemes varies across the country.

The investigation by Ringway for clients across the UK comes as practitioners and providers agreed at LTT’s Future of local transport delivery conference this week that there was a need for better information on what causes capital unit costs to rise and fall.
