Driver association’s views on cycling are way off mark

No doubt Keith Peat of the Association of British Drivers was attempting to be both flippant and contrary with his latest absurd missive to LTT on contrasting the importance of the car with non-motorised modes. Nevertheless, I rise to the bait and seek to correct the errors in his letter.

He says that the focus of spending “should not be on cyclists and ramblers, who are really not engaging in much more than a recreational pursuit”. In reality less than 1% of transport spending goes...
