I take issue with the hysteria surrounding the long overdue speed camera ‘switch-off’ as expressed by the likes of Mick Giannasi . The DfT recently admitted it had “unwittingly misled the public” with the 42% killed or seriously injured reduction claim from the 2005 (four-year) evaluation report of cameras. In fact, buried in ‘Appendix H’ of the report is the first attempt in a Government report to allow for ‘Regression To The Mean’ (RTTM). Only...
