Balfour Beatty M4/M5 contract

The Highways Agency has awarded Balfour Beatty an £89m contract to convert sections of the M4 and M5 near Bristol to a managed motorway. The aim is to cut congestion, make journeys more reliable and improve safety through variable speed limits and opening the hard shoulder as an extra traffic lane on the M4 between junctions 19 and 20 and the M5  between junctions 15 and 17. The scheme will open in 2013-14. Balfour Beatty was selected from the HA managed motorway national framework....
