Cable theft affects train reliability

Network Rail’s half-year results show that cable theft is having an adverse effect on train timetable reliability.

Comparing April to September 2011 with same period in 2010, 92.8% of trains ran on time down from 93.5% the previous year.

The report said: “Performance has been adversely impacted by increasingly levels of cable theft. However, Network Rail continues to reduce the number of infrastructure failures.”...
