£50m bus fund pushes the partnership route

Transport Minister Norman Baker this week sought to encourage urban local authorities down the path of partnership working with bus operators rather than bus Quality Contracts, by launching a £50m Better Bus Areas fund.

Guidance says the fund will support local authorities who take a “partnership approach to bus services in congested urban areas”. Local authorities making a bid must have the backing of at least one major operator.
