Clamping fraudster must pay back £2.8m or face 10 years in jail

A convicted criminal who used his clamping firm to commit fraud has been ordered to return nearly £3m of his assets, or face a 10-year prison stretch. Steven Ryan was given six months to find the money after Judge Murray Creed ruled that he should pay back £2,837,349 from his business, Car Clamping Securities (PR Mar 2011).

At his 2011 trial the court was told that a pay & display-parking meter at the Roses car park in Birmingham had been tampered with.
