Map-based Traffic Orders are a sensible approach to managing on-street parking restrictions

The basic format of a Traffic Order remained little changed for some 75 years. But in June 2001 Chris Brimley, chief engineer of Brentwood Borough Council, and Ann Horgan, the assistant town clerk, published a report entitled The Use of Mapping to Define Waiting Restrictions in Brentwood. Although presenting data on a map was nothing new, this small report fundamentally changed the way in which a Traffic Regulation Order was presented. As such, it was a massive step forward.
