A town the size of Peterborough would have to be built near Stansted Airport if the Government decided to turn Stansted into the UK’s main airport hub, a transport think-tank has told the Government’s Airports Commission.
The Independent Transport Commission says Heathrow Airport would have to close “as a major airport” if the Government did opt to make Stansted the UK’s hub or build a new hub in the Thames Estuary.
