Motorists in rural areas could benefit from cheaper fuel under Treasury plans to extend the existing island fuel rebate to many more parts of the UK. The scheme enables retailers to cut the cost of fuel to consumers by allowing them to claim back 5p per litre of fuel sold from HM Revenue & Customs.
