Infrastructure investment is recognised in the New Year's Honours list, with senior figures at Infrastructure UK, an infrastructure investment firm and London Underground all receiving honours.
Orders of the British Empire go to Paul Skinner, chairman, Infrastructure UK, for "services to business and infrastructure"; Cressida Hogg, managing partner at 3i, which invests in transport, for "services to infrastructure investment and policy"; and to David Waboso, the director of capital programmes at London Underground, which has an ongoing major investment programme.
The DfT's Rail Group gets praise after re-starting the troubled rail franchise programme with Colette Carroll, deputy director of the group, getting an honour "for services to the rail industry". A year ago, the DfT's Rail Group came under heavy criticism.
Cynthia Barlow, chair of RoadPeace U.K, meanwhile, receives an honour "for services to road safety". RoadPeace has campaigned to reduce the danger from lorries and promoted speed cameras as beneficial, among other issues, this year. The full honours list is available here.
