A BBC report that fines issued by camera cars had risen “dramatically” in Southend-on-Sea were misleading, the borough council has argued. 

The news item said: “CCTV camera cars, called ‘spy cars’ by critics, which catch drivers parking illegally have raised more than £600,000 in two years for the Essex resort’s council.”
