Hammersmith tunnel is feasible but ball now lies in TfL’s court

The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham has identified three options for a tunnel to replace the A4 Hammersmith Flyover, which the council has branded a ‘Berlin Wall’ dividing the town centre.

The options tested by consultant Halcrow range in cost from just over £200m to £1.7bn and would have very different impacts on traffic on surface roads.

The study findings will be handed to Transport for London, which owns the A4, next month. Hammersmith & Fulham wants TfL...
