An East Coast high-speed rail route linking London and Yorkshire has a higher economic performance than a West Coast route from London to near Birmingham according to a new report prepared by consultant Atkins.
Atkins has updated the work it conducted for the now defunct Strategic ailAuthority between 2001 and 2003, assessing the business cases for a north-south high-speed line on three alignments:
