Robert Goodwill: New digital road map will “help make journeys more efficient and ensure traffic keeps moving”

 

The Department for Transport is contributing £3m to a new digital road map which, it says, will give the most detailed information yet to councils and emergency services.

Developed by Ordnance Survey and street data specialist GeoPlace, the digital map could transform how all levels of government maintain and improve roads by detailing information such as road widths, traffic calming measures and height and weight restrictions, says the DfT.
