Focus on accident blackspots, not blanket lower limits

I must respond to the letters from Chris Oldham and Rod King of 20’s Plenty (Letters LTT 29 May). There is nothing ill-considered in that various experts have submitted opposition to blanket 20mph zones. It is a fact that these limits are being applied where no accidents are happening or, where they are happening, have not been shown to be caused by a higher limit. 

As for opinion polls, yes, on a nimbyist basis, you will get anyone to support unscientific ideologically-based speed...
