Patronage falls on Sheffield, West Mids and Blackpool tram systems

Passenger numbers and revenue on light rail systems in Birmingham, Sheffield and Blackpool all fell last year (2014/15), according to figures published by the DfT.

The Sheffield Supertram was hardest hit, patronage falling 8.5% to 11.5 million. Revenue fell 10.5% to £12.6m. 

Patronage on the Wolverhampton-Birmingham Midland Metro fell 6.1% to 4.4 million and revenue dropped 4.9% to £7.7m.
