Bad driving standards cause crashes, not accidents

While I’m pleased to see that Keith Peat has responded to my letter about road “accidents”, I am surprised at some of his comments (ibid).

He pleads that dropping a valuable vase should be seen as an accident, as should walking into a telegraph pole, and apparently that these things justify the term “accident” for driving errors. 

Of course people don’t generally drop vases on purpose, but if they choose to pick up such an item with greasy hands, or to...
