Thanet District Council is testing the market for a partner to re-open Manston Airport as an airport. Manston was closed by then owner Ann Gloag in May 2014. The site is now owned by two individuals, Chris Musgrave and Trevor Cartner. Thanet could use compulsory purchase powers to acquire the site but, to do so, needs an indemnity partner to underwrite and meet all costs incurred by the council and then make investment to deliver a viable airport operation.
