Trans-Pennine Tunnel: five options

The five options for the new road lie in three corridors

 

A 25-mile new road across the Pennines connecting Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire looks set to be recommended by consultants conducting the Trans-Pennine Tunnel study for the Government.

The study by Mouchel is due to be completed next month. Five route options (see map) are being explored, located in three broad corridors:

Option 4: 25 miles, 11 miles of tunnel

Option 7: 25 miles, 11 miles in tunnel

Option 8: 25 miles, 14 miles in tunnel
